This is for a silhouette I drew a long time ago, and has been on my queue for traditional marquetry. Unfortunately, life has made my ability to get to this piece feel like an eternity, and I didn’t want to wait anymore.
The background is Red Oak and the silhouette is rosewood. I don’t know that I love the combo, so there may be a redo but for now I wanted share it.
This silhouette is based of the traditional outfits of women in Mongolia. I have named all of my ladies in this series after flowers in the language of their origin. Mongolia’s national flower is the ‘Scabiosa Butterfly Blue’ or ‘Ber Tsetseg’.
