Steeps and Tweets - Downy Woodpecker Original Art

This cute little Downy is done in ink and markers. Dimensions are 6" x 8 1/4". It is part of my Steeps and Tweets series.

"Steeps and Tweets - Downy Woodpecker" is a detailed ink and marker illustration measuring 6" x 8 1/4". The piece is part of my "Steeps and Tweets" series, featuring a Downy Woodpecker, a bird known for its distinct black-and-white plumage and red cap. My inspiration stems from an enjoyment of watching these shy yet fascinating birds in my yard.

In this artwork, I spent some time in my efforts to capture the meticulous details of the Downy Woodpecker. The black-and-white feathers are rendered with precise line work, and the small touches of red on its head are highlighted with vivid color, bringing the bird to life on paper. The bird's delicate perch on a small tower of tea cups depicts the fragile balance of nature and its inherent value.

My choice to include the Downy Woodpecker in the series reflects an interest in capturing the essence of various bird species through her art. The "Steeps and Tweets" series aims to celebrate the beauty and diversity of birds. It also encourages viewers to slow down and appreciate the wonders of nature.
